After receiving his B.A. degree from Columbia University, New York in 1974, he attended the University of Chicago receiving a Ph.D. in Biophysics and the M.D. degree in 1982. After a neurosurgical residency at the University of Pennsylvania, he began neurosurgical practice in Ocean County in 1988.
